Autumn fungi

It's been a busy summer family wise and most of the photographs I have taken have been snapshots of my granddaughter, lovely for me if not for this website! We did however go out this weekend to one of our favourite local walks in the hope of getting some fungi shots, specifically the quintessential fairy mushroom - the Fly agaric. It took a while to find one but eventually we did find a cluster although most were getting a little old and jaded or had been knocked over. Eventually I found the two below. One fully open but just about intact and then the newer, redder, more bulbous mound of the newly emerged. There are some beautiful fungi around if one takes the time to look but, to me at least, there is always something thrilling about finding the Fly agaric.
